Some friends and myself have been asked for an estimate on how much it would cost to produce a TV-MAGAZINE format type of show that will run once a week for 36 weeks. A university has asked us to make a show of their football team, highlights, news and other stuff like that. Here's the main idea for the show which will be directed and produced by our company. What I'm asking for here is for those of you who have more experienced on producing TV shows, to tell me your opinion on how much ya'll think would be fair, or necessary to produce this show, in your own opinion, of course keeping in mind the following:
- 36 shows
- Studio rent (we can get this for a fairly cheap price)
- 2 hosts (provided by the university) talking about the sports in the past week.
- We are planning to have 2 cameramen
- 1 full time producer/writer
- A full time editor
- An audio person on set ( we would be onset as well).
- A cameraman to travel around with the FAU sports teams to capture b roll footage of them to bring back and add into the show.
- Someone to cover the live network coverage of the home games.
I know this is not much information, but this is all I've been given for now, the guys told me to ask around experienced people and see what they think. Keep in mind all the elements that come to mind when it is in fact a TV show, taped in a studio.
Our initial figures come to roughly $16,000 per episode.
What we want to know is what a fair price would be.
Any help would be well appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Re: Need advice...
Wed, January 12, 2005 - 4:49 PMI haven't looked into specifics, but $16,000 actually seems low to me. I'm thinking about post and set design and the production design (any graphics logo's etc.) Also, are you shooting HD, DigiBeta, or something else? Do you have post facilities? And are you looking for any sponsors?
